PS3 LIE WATCH – EVIDENCE UPDATED REGARDING ‘LAIR’
What happened here is that Sony pasted a pretend energy bar and HUD onto a CG image, and some people sort of believed it for a while there:
This is the ‘BEFORE’ shot, from back when the entire internet didn’t make up 10,000 Photoshop jokes about PS3 every day (we’re very proud of you all).
And this is what it really looks like running on PS3. At least they got the Stamina gauge right, although they forgot what side they put it on when making the actual game.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
Please vandalise the game’s Wikipedia entry accordingly.

FOR GOD’S SAKE.
Let’s not forget the NHL ‘in game graphics’ fiasco for the 360. Remember that? The two blokes with their heads on the floor? HMMMM?
WHERE’S THE 360 LIE WATCH? I’M FUCKING SURE GEARS OF WAR WILL LOOK EXACTLY LIKE THAT FUCKING RENDER THAT’S BEEN PRINTED ABOUT 500,000 TIMES (yes, literally).
Oh and remember when fucking Nintendo reckoned the N64 was going to be as good as a Silicon Graphics beast machine and gave everyone ridiculously ambitious renders from Killer Instinct to prove it.
That was the START of it. Fucking Nintendo. Always to blame. Sony aren’t at fault here and the PS3 is brilliant, obviously.
GOD I’M SO UPSET I MIGHT START MY OWN BLOG.

Your other Lie Watches came slightly more on time.
This is very old news and I don’t even follow gaming that much.
Anyway they will show this game at TGS so maybe you should waited until then since the graphics probably improved.
September 21st, 2006 on 3:21 pm
Boss Nonnu, I wish I could say that you were right about Gears, but having played it, I can confirm that it really is as ball-tighteningly gorgeously grimy as the renders suggested.
September 21st, 2006 on 3:57 pm
Not enough blue sky in it for me. It’s all very depressing. And where’s the Dreamcast toilet seat pic you lazy urchins?
September 21st, 2006 on 4:00 pm
From the Wikipedia entry: “Lair will make its debut at this year’s Tokyo Game Show where underwhelmed fatties will touch themselves whilst looking at CG.”
Wonderful.

Everyone’s being so awesome!
Here’s my humble offering, my own text is in the squares brackets.
“It uses the PS3 controller’s tilt functions for movement within the game. [Well, actually, it uses the Wii controller’s tilt function, to be honest with you.]
“
Not bad, if I do say so myself

Minge :D

I didn’t piss myself laughing today
And I don’t even follow gaming that much anyway. And I don’t read blogs or UK:R and I hate commenting and computers and typing and myself. I’m also one of those people who presses the “open door” buttons on the tube even though the open door button hasn’t been opening doors since 1999 anyway.
Anway I don’t even care anyway.

“I’m also one of those people who presses the “open door” buttons on the tube even though the open door button hasn’t been opening doors since 1999 anyway.”
DO I KNOW YOU??
September 21st, 2006 on 5:56 pm
I fucking hate those cunts. Just because it lights up they press it. But then again what the fuck is the point in those buttons anyway.
September 21st, 2006 on 6:00 pm
To add more fuel to the fire, I too have played Gears, and it’s pants droppingly gorgeous.
I’m going to get a PS3, but I’m not going to pay for one obviously, because it’ll be shit. Not because the machine is shit, but because the games so far are shit. I mean, who wants to fly dragons all afternoon. It’ll wear off in 30 minutes, just like the amatuer porn I got from http://www.bighomem….
September 21st, 2006 on 6:37 pm
I changed every ‘dragon’ to ‘monkey’!!
Yeah, I know, not very good but well, I laughed!
September 21st, 2006 on 6:39 pm
My other conribution:
“Although video footage shows monkeys fighting over a rice pudding, a screenshot released shows a fat man ‘doing a goatse’, thus complicating the search for a possible gameplay style”
September 21st, 2006 on 6:45 pm
I also added:
Sont’s network platform looks to be utter wank.
Rock on New games jounalism type stuff..kinda.
September 21st, 2006 on 7:05 pm
Even though I’m in no way a fan of Sony, I must admit to being impressed by some of the PS3 videos and screens I’ve seen thus far. I suggest you all go and search for PS3 media and make your own minds up, rather than automatically siding with the views of Zorg
September 21st, 2006 on 7:11 pm
i’ve now been banned from editing pages on wikipedia because of this. i might as well go kill myself.
September 21st, 2006 on 8:51 pm
I put in a few things. Duncan Bannatyne may be pleased.
September 21st, 2006 on 10:41 pm
Well someone’s fucking ruined it by deleting pretty much everything.
A fanboy obviously got annoyed that a big lies was exposed
September 21st, 2006 on 10:47 pm
Looking in at the history page though…
Wow, Zorg, can I say you have the best readers on the whole internet?
Every edit just made it better and better, seriously. I almost literally laughed my head off.
I think we should all be prouds, even though someone did remove the vast bulk of it.
EDIT – Oh, okay, I’ve reverted it back to its full glory :)
September 21st, 2006 on 11:58 pm
Even in its current crapulent form, it brought tears of laughter to my eyes. good work all of you!
September 21st, 2006 on 11:59 pm
Oh, yes, I love the solitary comment on the discussion page; “Vandals (Justified, But Still)”
September 22nd, 2006 on 1:10 am
“a screenshot released shows a man with an erection riding a dragon”
Good job!
September 22nd, 2006 on 4:53 am
ps3.ign.com has a five page article on this, including an HD trailer released at TGS.
I know it’s shocking that they might have moved the stamina bar from one side of the screen to the other between builds, but I think you all can stop vandalizing the wikipedia page on this now.
Okthanksbye

“I know it’s shocking that they might have moved the stamina bar from one side of the screen to the other between builds”
You unutterable twat. I think the fact the polygon count dipped from the order of millions down to the low ten thousands might have had a BIT more to do with it.
September 22nd, 2006 on 10:08 am
Between builds?! What are you? A fucking child of Chernobyl? Are you actually suggesting that they intentionally decreased the quality of the graphics from an earlier build?
I’m beginning to see how advertising works.
September 22nd, 2006 on 10:12 am
I’ve added my bit to the Wikipedia. I made a hilarious comment about the title being a mis-print, and the original title should have been ‘LIAR’. I also added some shit about Wolf from Gladiators…….thinking back…….it wasn’t actually that funny……oh well.
September 22nd, 2006 on 11:13 am
phorenzik, you spaz!
Anything with Wolf from Gladiators mentioned in it instantly becomes a million times better.
Believe in yourself a little more, man. You’re too pretty to be glum.
September 22nd, 2006 on 12:05 pm
i looked at the wiki yesterday and it was the regular, untouched one.
a few minutes ago i went back to it and it was all gladiator’d and stuff (with the dodgy render removed)
now it seems it’s back to how it was, although the purple bit on the right with the picture now reads ‘Liar’ instead of ‘Lair’ which is funny. sort of
September 22nd, 2006 on 12:11 pm
Shitting-hell! I must’ve spent at least 3 minutes vandalising it. Now it’s all gone. All that work for nothing…..Fuckers!
September 22nd, 2006 on 12:29 pm
How’s this game going to sell anyway? Can you upgrade your dragons in some way by putting neon lights under them? Chrome claws with spinners? Von Dutch dragon-harness? Does Vin Diesel or some other chav icon do the voice of the dragons?
Either way I bet it’s not going to be as good as Thanatos on the Spectrum.
September 22nd, 2006 on 1:50 pm
Wikipedia steadfastly maintains vigilance to determine the editor that enlists the septillionth usage of the term jaw-dropping in a video game article. The lucky winner will receive a copy of PS3s upcoming Urethra Mech Member Team Ninja Train Conductor.
September 22nd, 2006 on 1:54 pm
I’ve been banned from editing the Wiki. I pleaded with them and told them that an older boy told me to do it, but the fuckers wouldn’t budge.
September 22nd, 2006 on 2:19 pm
“This page has been temporarily protected from editing to deal with vandalism”
awww… that sucks….
September 22nd, 2006 on 2:44 pm
It says it’s protected, but you can still make and save changes. I just changed it back.
September 22nd, 2006 on 4:17 pm
Look at this amazing new game for the PS3
http://www.the-magicbox.com/0609/game060921c.shtml
Sony have also announced that You can download Mega Drive and PC-Engine games on the PS3. I don’t know where they get their ace ideas from.
September 22nd, 2006 on 4:29 pm
Crikey, I think that’s a future lie-watch on that one.
Plus, who the FUCK would BUY and PLAY that?
September 26th, 2006 on 1:33 pm
Thos 2 pics look just as good as each other until you click on them both, then realise the horrible truth.
How dare they lie to me.
