EUROPE AT WAR: HMV BRIBES LOSERS TO PRE-ORDER PS3s
Still believe the LIES about PS3 pre-orders going well? Then THINK AGAIN. If things are so rosy, how come HMV is giving away a grand of games just to tempt the scum into pre-ordering one?
What’s happened here is HMV had a meeting where questions like “Shit! What can we do to shift some of these useless things no one wants?” were asked, then someone suggested doing a competition.
No one else had any better ideas, so they did a competition.
And the CAPITALIST SCUM have called VF5 “Virtual Fighter 5”. Will people NEVER LEARN? It’s insult after insult to our proud national heritage. Never before has there been a better time to throw a bin through a shop window.

The bloke in GAME today tried to get me to preorder a PS3. The swine.
Although in all fairness he did sigh when I declined.
Ha!
March 7th, 2007 on 12:50 pm
Bloody hell! Better get myself online and order one now.
March 7th, 2007 on 1:00 pm
did he have any reason to suspect you’d want to? were you near the ps3 games? i’d like to rummage around the used gba games section and see if i get approached about it there.
has anyone seen the ps3 advert in the cinema? it was this weird advert, then had 23.03.07 at the end. it seemed like an xbox-y kind of advert though, a bit gritty and stuff.
ironically it was about a grenade being lobbed about and ending up next to a suitcase which, after exploding, turned out to be full of money. it was american money i think, so probably translates to £425 or whatever.
nice to see a company able to laugh at their own expense (‘scuse the pun).
March 7th, 2007 on 1:04 pm
Er there arent 10 games out for the PS3 let alone 24!
Hmm I smell a ruse tell tempt the village idiots this country harbours….. The chavs will be on it like a shot.
March 7th, 2007 on 1:35 pm
In fairness, this is a GREAT offer. Seeing as nobody else will be preordering in the next 48 hours, this should pretty much guarantee you a big stash of free games to sell on eBay.

Now I don’t hate Sony as much as some other folk here – I just think they’re phenomenally arrogant and the PS3 is ridiculously expensive and largely pointless, and I’d like to see it trail in last just to teach them a lesson – but this MUST be the tipping point. HMV clearly can’t give the bloody things away. I love the line, too – “If you still haven’t got round to ordering…” I almost feel sorry for Sony.

I went into the princess street (edinburgh) virgin. Probably the biggest in scotland, I asked how many pre-orders they’d had for the PS3, they told me 35. I was pretty surprised, then she asked me if I wanted one about 5 times.
March 7th, 2007 on 2:11 pm
I admit I’m starting to feel a little bit sorry for Sony.

I used to work in HMV in Guildford in my youth and the good manager got sacked for ‘borrowing’ a PSX whilst the bad manager didnt get sacked.
Thats how evil Sony is.

“used to work in HMV in Guildford in my youth and the good manager got sacked for ‘borrowing’ a PSX whilst the bad manager didnt get sacked.
Thats how evil Sony is.”
This has to one of the most profound statements I’ve ever come across. For this alone, I hope Sony crumbles.

Well it was odd, I was buying Castlevania on the DS when he asked.
Clearly he’s clutching at straws.

Just to clarify. I’m not being sarcastic. It’s real-life human interest stories like this that really illustrate how shit Sony is.

found those neogaf threads, fucking hate americans.
March 7th, 2007 on 6:41 pm
I know. The occasion touched me deeply. Just like the ‘bad’ manager did in the stockroom.
March 7th, 2007 on 7:13 pm
Satire or not, it gets a laugh out of me regardless.
And besides, it’s their loss.
Although anyone who sticks up for Sony has to be devoid of humour. And brains. Or indeed any redeeming quality whatsoever.

guess what? kotaku stole one of your updates….again.
March 7th, 2007 on 7:51 pm
and not only that, one of the commenters said this :
“Ergh, the worst thing is that someone’s checking and quoting Europe at War for news. It’s as bad as looking out for news via Sony Defense Force…”
stupid prick thinks the sites called europe at war!

Sony have totally changed my mind by unveiling home™ which isn’t the same as There, Second Life, Habbo Hotel, Phantasy Star Online lobbies or most MMO towns.
Best of all, it’s FREE like going to the pub!

How dare you compare Phantasy Star Online to any of that Sony rubbish.
God, I miss the Dreamcast.

I thought Sony said 30 titles at launch…

i wish there was real news.. sigh

I have a megaphone: ” Sony, lower the bloody price, you morons! “
It’s a good piece of tech. Sony are just being arrogant bastards. They don’t want to admit defeat with the price.
The best thing retailers can do is make a stand. Tell sony: ” £299, or we give-up! “
I’d love to see Sony die as a videogame company though. As much as there were some good games for their machines over the years, the negative cloud they’ve put over the industry is hard to bare.
If they have to live on, I’d like them to learn, mellow, and grow-up.
March 8th, 2007 on 7:00 am
It’s clear by now that Sony is looking for an excuse to exit the PAL market. The PS3 pricing is set unrealistically high to discourage anyone from buying it, and removing the PS2 compatibility minimises the money lost on any that do happen to get sold. Launching in March instead of at christmas like the wii managed to do will only further cement the PAL PS3’s demise, freeing up all the Car Theft Auto programmers from months of PAL conversions and letting them cram in more graffiti-paint-sniffing minigames.
March 8th, 2007 on 8:49 am
A lot of pro-Sony comments recently. I guess Sony hired a PR company to post comments on anti-Sony sites, much like their failed attempt at viral marketing.
They failed this time too.

Liam’s picture is possibly an insight into the future.

If you click on the terms and conditions bit, you find out you can enter for the price of a stamp (or the effort of putting the letter through the franking machine). So you don’t even have to preorder to enter.
March 8th, 2007 on 11:40 am
Liam – how’s going to the pub free? I went the other day and though entrance was free (true) if I wanted to do anything like drink beer, play on the machine, get hustled at pool, get condoms in the toilets (just in case… yeah right) I had to shell out. Damn pub suckered me in with no upfront fee and then I ended up spending fuckloads on enhancements.
That’s the last time I leave the house.

Sony ist die Weise vorwärts! Wir sind überlegen! Unser Prozessor ist das beste! Nicht versuchen zu widerstehen! Lassen Sie uns Polen gefangennehmen! Unten mit den Microsoft Kapitalisthunden! Die childish Nintendo Idioten töten! Sie zu den Gasräumen nehmen! Alles die zerstören, die gegen Sony kämpfen! Das dumme unterdrücken! Für Ken! Sony jetzt! Sony morgen!

Oh god. German humour is so last century. That whole genocide thing was funny for the first couple of weeks but you guys just dont know when to quit.
Besides there’s no mention of Sega in there. So i know you’re faking it. Faker.

The only thing more tragic than the current wave of fanboys going apeshit because someone said something hurtful about their false idols are the various discussion boards about Oblivion coming out on PSP and how they insist it will be like the 360/PC version.
March 11th, 2007 on 1:36 pm
Oblivion on the PSP *lol*
I can just imagine it causing people to commit suicide.
