VICTORY IN EUROPE! MANCHESTER DESERVES AN UPDATE ALL OF ITS OWN
We’re going to go to Manchester and shake every man, woman and child by the hand. Good work, people. Your resistance and bravery will be remembered for eternity.
When historians pinpoint the precise moment it went wrong for Sony and PlayStation3, they will say “Manchester, March 23, 2007, at the Arndale Shopping Centre, at about 4 o’clock”.
FROM MANCHESTER: “This was taken in the Manchester Arndale Shopping Centre at about 4 o’clock on Friday. Guess Virgin Megastores are desperate to get rid of the 328 PS3s they have lying around” – Phil, Manchester.

We don’t. They’re shit.

the arndale, ive been there, its fucking massive like some of those buildings in shenmue 2. Whats quite funny is that at the bottom you get the poor small indoor market like shops run by asians and as you go higher the shops gradually get bigger and more rich, until the top with all the big name brand shops, rich cunts.

From what I can make out on that sign, it reads ‘Come demo PS3 in our interactive games heap’.
OK, so ‘heap’ might be the wrong word, but what a shocking use of the English language. Shame on you, illiterate Virgin staff!

ok Chart Track are “independent” of Sony – they release sales figures – that’s their “job” right? They were more than happy yo release news of sales of PS 3 being “165,000” so WHY is a company DIRECTOR publicly making a statement about negative PS 3 sales if they are completely independent of Sony: http://play.tm/wire/click/1421737
This really smells bad…..I didn’t believe the sales figures at first – from only 7000 outlets (not all of whom actually sell the product anyway) you have to arrive at 165,000. when you look at the overstock most shops have of the product – ingnoring the “re-supply” it does not actually add up unless every shop actually sells in ther region of 23 units…..I think there needs to be some investigation into the motives of Chart Track and it’s connection to Sony (not including that BIG sony advert on their site…)

I notice the name of the fella who sent in this news piece was called Phil. His surname wouldn’t happen to be Harrison by any chance would it?

You like how he says judging a consoles success on 9 days is dumb, but obviously doing it based on 2 days is fine.

Spot on, I think chart track should be investigated.

from the-magicbox:
– Gameindustry.biz reported that sales of PlayStation 3 have dropped by 82% in UK on the second week of release.
– Enterbrain reported that the sales of Nintendo Wii are now more than double the sales of PlayStation 3 in Japan. The accumulated sales of Wii is 1.95 million units, while PS3 is 812,000 units.

I hate to keep saying it but this is NOT FUNNY. What ever happened to masterclass and touche and things that were funny? You’re now posting sales numbers without a hint of humor.
Moreover, I understand that the UK is Sony country and you guys are mad that it’s not the best console but all the chavs still buy it on hype alone, but all of you commenters coming here and having a wank about it makes you look just as bad as those chavs.
Please, make fun of Sony all you want but make it FUNNY (like the caption contest). I keep checking the site out of habit but it’s the same fucking sony numbers post in a different flavour.

Sorry to post this again, but I thought it should be seen

@keyrat – I don’t think UK is Sony Country at all. I’d say its a fairly even split, with the Wii slightly ahead and the PS3 slightly behind.
I’ve checked around a few electronics stores in my area, I think about 5 have been sold. All but one or two shops have had no interest at all.
April 4th, 2007 on 5:00 pm
@keyrat: It’s because we can remember the days when the UK used to be Donkey Kong Country.

@Keyrat – I like it because while I sit smugly knowing I don’t have to many PS3’s I get to laugh at all the stores that do.
BTW WH Smiths just slashed PS3 to £399.99 had a full page advert in the Sun today it seems.

ooooh Now Play.com have dropped to.
http://www.mcvuk.com/news/26428/Now-Play-drops-PS3-to-39999
Shame, would be fastest price drop ever, but I guess Sony can just not officially change the price but just let everyone sell it at £399.99
April 4th, 2007 on 5:53 pm
The reason I keep checking the site and find it entertaining Keyrat is that the sales figures are FUCKING HILARIOUS.

So heads will be rolling up in Manchester then for over ordering Bet Sony wont take them back either.

Oh, the hilarity: http://uk.videogames.games.yahoo.com/ad/news/ps3-prices-slashed-to–399-b0d5ad.html
I’m sure that Sony’s take will be that this is a good thing. You know, like the Spider-Man font.

I checked the Argos in Walsall today, they had 53 remaining.
Not bad considering Walsall has a DEEP CHAV INFESTATION.
Seriously, if you ever want to despair for humanity just take a walk down Walsall town centre.
April 4th, 2007 on 6:43 pm
This makes bollocks of the chart track numbers. If there was only 20k left in the whole of the uk they wouldn’t be slashing prices just yet.
imyut – prenounced I-my-you-tee, an old kamikaze death cry more recently used by Sony execs.

‘Seriously, if you ever want to despair for humanity just take a walk down Walsall town centre.’
You have’nt been to Hull then Saphion? The amount of people that ask ‘Orr mate, have you got 10p to get home?’ FFS! To which my response is ‘Orr fella, you got any dignity?’
And I swear to god, if you pretend you’re special and it somehow gives you special permission to play fucking rave tunes in a grannies ear on the bus, i’ll come round you’re house, grab that door wedge you call a ‘PS2 maaate, fella’ and use it to create a PS2 shaped anal cavity, you can smuggle all your drugs around with!
