PS3 LIE WATCH: EVIDENCE UPDATED REGARDING 'THE PRICE'
The astonishing thing about Sony’s amazing public lies is the way they’re getting closer together. It’s hard to keep track of lies when they’re two or three years apart, but when you lie in January about things that then happen in July, it’s blatantly obvious you’re treating your userbase like idiots.

Incredibly, Sony last week told a lie on July 6 about a thing they announced on July 9. A new personal best for time between lie and contradictory truth! Go Sony! You’re still best at one thing!

As P. Moore pointed out, they haven’t dropped the price at all, just changed what you get for the money.
It’s still 499 dorra in the US.
That, I think, is an even bigger fark you than a price cut.

$499 is roughly equivalent to £250. So an even bigger middle finger to the European market.
I still wouldn’t get one, even at that price. Makes the N64 that launched for the same price look like blisteringly good value. After all, is there anything approaching Mario64’s quality on the PS3? Doubt there will be for a long while.
Anyway, I’m holding out for the PSthree a few years down the line.

Yes, it’s not a price cut. They’re killing off the US 60GB model and replacing it with a UK based US 80GB model with shitty backwards compatibility.

More specifically, he says they never intended to drop the price, this is just a fire sale to get rid of the old 60GB model that they can’t sell any other way.

What are they going to do with all the shops with the 60gb model still sitting on store shelves?
Sell them off cheaper? like a sort of clearout temporary pricecut? Or just screw people over with the 60gb model until the stores need to order more?
