WELCOME TO THE 19TH PLACE
We’re sure that 19th on the UK chart at the end of Week Two is exactly what Sony had in mind for LittleBigPlanet. It’s all falling into place.

No, apart. It’s all falling apart. Let’s try one of those hilarious zooming-in jokes…
STAGE 1: A bit closer.
STAGE 2: Closer still.
STAGE 3: VERY CLOSE and therefore hilarious.

Gosh, it’s selling worse than Wii Music.

What’s even funnier, is it’s the 2nd best selling PS3 title, and it’s only 19th over all!
Guitar Hero World Tour PS3 limping into the “Individual Formats by Units” (the only chart that really counts) at number 24, 9 places behind the 360 versions which has been out a whole week longer.
And Mirrors Edge barely making the top 40 on PS3, again 9 places lower than the 360 version.
I thought PS3 owners absolutely LOVE massively over hyped rubbish?
November 18th, 2008 on 7:20 pm
Perhaps they have no money left after buying their over priced Blu Ray players?
November 18th, 2008 on 7:49 pm
haha x millions!!
Brilliant stuff. I can’t wait for Sony to go cap in hand to the Jap govt begging for a $25billion handout – like GM and Ford have had to do in the States (they also followed the great business model of ‘build shit that people don’t want’)
It won’t be long until Sony dig a hole in the Nevada desert and cut their losses with unsold LBP games and overpriced blu-ray consoles by tipping them behind those ET carts.
Time for Segagaga to get remade for the Wii and 360 (pending the release of the Dream-Mega-Saturn-CyboRazor-Nomad-Gear – the ultimate console for the discerning gamer, insert a Blu Ray disc in it in error and it spits it out in 10,000 shattered fragments before going on line to tell everyone you’re a twat – we only want GD-Roms) … the glory days will return.
Howard Stringer, A Cardiff boy and the first European Boss of Sony … You’ve done the UK proud. When LittleBigPlanet drops to 72 on next weeks chart we’ll organise a ticker tape parade to toast your success. (Get out while you can)

Aww I always found the zoom in jokes funny. I have only seen them used in one place other than this, however. I am saddened that Gary dislikes them, for now I can no longer authentically either.

Fuck me, and Motorstorm PR down at #35 to complete the shame. Has Sony ever had so few Sony-published games at the business end of the chart?
PS3 is an epic disaster. It’s not making any money on software at all.
November 19th, 2008 on 12:43 am
I got an erection out of that and I’m not even a man.
Lol, nineteen, we won’t see you next week LBP. Guess not even the mass marketing helped people see this as good when it’s very shitty indeed. I’m glad casuals are starting to open their eyes, not even Wii Music is selling all that well.
November 19th, 2008 on 12:50 am
Zorg dude, the whole announcing-the-gag-before-doing-it really doesn’t help. People have to be wondering WTF it’s about when looking at the first one…

There should be a Sony Ultimate Tower doodad thing console that would try to combine as many failed formats as possible into one giant electricity-sucking monstrosity, in the same vein as the 32X/Sega CD, sans awesome.
I can see it now. The PLAYSTATION 3, with it’s supporting UMD, BetaMax, and Blu-Ray addons, would be the ultimate non-gaming system (and hopefully flop horribly, sending the company into the financial red zone and the UK:R wank:thoughtful commentary ratio along with it)
cestic — a cancerous growth found on the underside of the left thigh, incurred by fervent rubbing in response to the latest video game sales charts
November 19th, 2008 on 10:32 am
I’ve put Firefox into fullscreen mode and zoomed in even closer to the 19 to create a wank-satisfyingly 1680×1050 res image. I’m thinking of upgrading to a higher resolution monitor so I can enjoy an even more detailed view of the 19.

Whoa at the haters…good God never seen such a gathering of frustated people, do games entertain you anymore? Or they’re just stuff to argue, flame whatnot stuff to abuse some memes…
oh well, time to get back to the vydia, which is at least something entertaining for REAL.
November 19th, 2008 on 11:54 am
games are shit. it’s all about chart-tracking nowadays. soon chart-tracking will become ‘mainstream’ like gaming has, at which point we’ll have to find a new elite hobby.
as if cream porn and ken kutaragi captions weren’t elite enough.
November 19th, 2008 on 11:55 am
Lets hear Sony’s David Wilson’s spin on this…
“In other times of the year it would be a clear number one”
You mean those times of year when no other games were being released or bought? I can see why Sony pay you so much now, and also why they are doing ‘so well’.

Although I hate to admit it, I think LBP has the potential to lurk around for a long time & steadily shift units… £14.99 bargain bin units, but who's counting?
November 19th, 2008 on 11:56 am
If you’re going to make a game based on people creating levels then make it a simple drag-and-drop thing. Go and read a LBP thread on any games forum, “I attached some glue to the wheel and put some string on it to make a winch thing with a counter balance lever and scaled a box by 25% to one end but it all fell to bits” WTF? Alternatively, put your efforts into making a good single player game that is actually controllable and fun. It’s not difficult to work out really.
November 19th, 2008 on 12:20 pm
haha dats well funny. littlbigolant isrubiish. haha rolf.
krazze jeff woldnt play dat – maenly cos itz gay.

@ captain jax
Have you actually played it?
Shock horror – it contains a level designer that you have to actually perserevere with!? Oh my god!
Now off you go to eat your microwave meals while being supplied liquids via a drip.
Oh – and the single player is very good.
November 19th, 2008 on 12:23 pm
perserevere = ‘persevere’, obviously….

re. ‘And some news to push you into the vinegar strokes’.
That is indeed some good news. I shall look forward to downloading it from PSN (if the ‘multiplatform’ bit is to be believed).
I wonder if its hitting the Dreamcast?

Sega is outselling Sony published shite by a 2 to 1 ratio. Now if some anonymous Sony cunt comments on this then their cockometer rating will instantly go up, unlike LBP.

That’s the best response to LBP you could come up with?
Sorry for my language, but that is fucking pathetic.

I’m still disgusted it’s above mirror’s edge.
November 19th, 2008 on 1:58 pm
Internet forum geeks who fantasise about being part of the “Development Community” might want to persevere with a level editor. The average console owner who buys a game to ‘play’ does not. Hence LBP has flopped.

If you’re really interested in creating vehicles and then running your mates over with them, get Banjo-Kazooie on the 360 instead. 10 times better than LBP. Can’t wait to see next week’s chart agree with me. :-)
November 19th, 2008 on 3:03 pm
banjo and kazooie looks shit.
have you played it? 10 times better? Play it, then get back to me.
Generally though, Rare lost their touch a long time ago.
November 19th, 2008 on 3:44 pm
In fairness…
Most of the games above it are either multi-format or Wii/DS (i.e. wank non-games that the masses can’t help but fap all over).
…and who buys platform games these days?!
(Probably a bad idea as a long-time UK-R reader to go against the grain of you joyless fuckers, but oh well).
November 19th, 2008 on 4:45 pm
Why the buggery-arse wuld you come here if you *like* Sony?
November 19th, 2008 on 6:36 pm
LBP is a great game. Sony Playstation fans are retarded children. And retarded adults. Or chavs. Chavs old and young.
Hence the poor sales, I feel sorry for the team that made it.
I like the look of Mirror’s Edge and I am sad to see it do so poorly too. All this means is we will continue to get future marine fps games as the ‘masses’ don’t buy anything else.
Sad times, nothing to gloat about.
November 19th, 2008 on 7:17 pm
“Sad times, nothing to gloat about.”
This has nothing on 2001, when the best console with the best features and the best games failed to a shitty dvd player and full of faggot games. That is fucking sad, not this shit. I wouldn’t miss PS3 if it wasn’t for Valkyria or Yakuza. Anything else is pretty much mediocre at best.
