KNOW YOUR ENEMY – PLAYSTATION3 SLIM
The cunning enemy leopard has changed its spots. It may look different, but it contains the SAME DARK HEART and POISONED SOUL.
The enemy has gained a small measure of respect thanks to releasing a 4.48MB file at 4800 x 3800 resolution.

Looks about the same size as a Wii Fit board, except more fun to stamp on.

It’s pretty ugly. Good thing I already have a normal PS3!

Agreed, a matte-plastic atrocity…
Er, except I too have one of the current models *shifty look around*

Which was the first console that released a newer smaller/different-coloured model in the autumn years? Was it N64?
August 18th, 2009 on 9:48 pm
The NES had a smaller/different-coloured top-loading version.
August 18th, 2009 on 9:58 pm
The Megadrive had the MD2, which was smaller with different coloured buttons.
So the PS3 Slim is slim… but it’s deeper from front to back. Aren’t “smaller” things supposed to be… well, smaller? Perhaps they’ve designed it to stick out on a shelf to make it harder to hide from your friends.

Have Sony redefined the word “slim” ? The photo shows something shorter and fatter. It’s the ps3-short&fat.

Looks like the Kutagari diktat to plaster the Sony-owned Spiderman 3 movie font on the console has been quietly put to bed now that the Great Dictator is no more. Kutagari must have jizzed himself silly onto the glossy finish of the old PS3 Fat fantasizing about the convergence of all media in the heart of his powerful Cell processor. How inglorious to be beaten by the waggle.

Not that it will ever affect me personally but I too am glad they go rid of the Spider-Man font. I hated it when Spider-Man came out. It makes everything written in it seem destined for the bargain bin.

Seriously, it is incredibly cheap-looking. Like some Chinese fake.
August 19th, 2009 on 1:18 am
Funny that, it’s exactly where the prototypes were first manufactured/discovered…
I think the older model at least looked like it was worth a few quid, completely agree that the new one is aesthetically similar to a cheap rip-off – a bit like those fake Wii-style consoles they sell in pikey electronics shops.

Nice of Mr Magoo to turn up for the launch though:

It just looks like they’ve taken a PS3 and sandwiched it in the older style PS3 toasted sandwich maker. It’s no smaller, just wider.

Just in time for NG Sigma 2, at least.
August 19th, 2009 on 9:56 am
You’re all clearly missing the most important point… they’re so embarrassed by the product they took the word Sony off.
Perhaps their next strategic move will be to say that PS3 was really nothing to do with them and was just a repackaged Dreamcast with Blu-ray?

You wash your filthy mouth out MYstIC G
August 19th, 2009 on 10:48 am
It’s so shit it even looks like a fake in actual photographs.
August 19th, 2009 on 10:54 am
What does the ESD stand for?
August 19th, 2009 on 12:58 pm
@Mystic G
You’re right I did miss that – but that led me to realise that people are missing the even more important point… That stupid Spider-man font is gone!!
August 19th, 2009 on 1:00 pm
except “Police Constable London” realised it first. D’oh, I’d better get back to finding some work to do…
August 20th, 2009 on 9:02 pm
Can’t see myself trading in my ‘old’ ps3 just yet!

You gotta love the way Sony have arrogantly and brazenly thrown away a whole generation of their games console just to get Blu-ray players in people’s homes.
Their contempt for the gaming community and industry is admirable.
