SONIC THE HEDGEHOG ART SPOTTED IN SOUTHEND
Down past Sainsbury’s on the left. Another boarded-up computer shop. It’s all bloody Dell’s fault.
“I thought you’d appreciate this piece of amateur Sonic art I spotted just off Southend High Street, down past the Sainsbury’s on the left, walking in the direction of Westcliff. Classic Sonic The Hedgehog pose there only tempered with a shoddy understanding of solid, cartoon construction.”
“The shop is closed and has been for a while. I’m not sure how long it’s been empty, but photo 2 gives us a reasonable idea.”
“Photo 3 is the shop itself. That blue sign across the top is gone now. It probably won’t be long until the paintings go either” – David.

There’s a bad Sonic painting on a Playstation-themed computer shop in Hackney which would sit well in this series, but I’ve lost the cable to get pictures off my phone. If somebody guarantees me minor internet fame then I’ll make an effort.

I found it on Google maps. You can’t see Sonic until the stab/bomb/generally brutal violence-proof mesh is pulled down but you can just about make out his badly-proportioned feet above the Xbox logo on the left.
I leave my discoveries to posterity, with the grave solicitation that my studies be continued by the nation’s finest bad Sonic picture enthusiasts.
Seriously though, if you ARE for some weird, unexplainable reason really HONESTLY considering taking a proper picture of Sonic, it would mean going out into the infamous ‘murder mile’ after shops have closed. I live on murder mile. I know. They mostly come at night. Mostly.

I won’t be venturing anywhere near ‘murder mile.’ But with the wonder that is the interweb, I can confirm Weatherbox’s claim: http://www.allinlondon.co.uk/directory/1255/109572.php
Yep. It’s the blue blighter alright.

Haha, that’s been there for years. I almost took a photo of it once to send over to you guys but I’m glad i didn’t bother now. That place years ago was a game ship full of air-brushed character art on the walls, though for the last few years it was a moldy computer shop with monitors everywhere.

I went to Southend last January. It was shut. Managed to see an Afterburner Climax in the wild. I did think of UK:R but was not sufficiently moved to take any photos.
Went into a cafe and had burger and chips, like a normal.

Someone has stolen the ‘i’ out of both those for sale signs in photo 3.
I bet that last photo was taken at midday and, like most of England, that shop never sees the light of day.
