BY PUBLIC DEMAND: THOSE SEGA-BRANDED ZIPPO LIGHTERS
Please stop emailing this in now. No we don’t smoke, but yes, we do like setting fire to things. Countryside hedgerows and the hair of women sitting in front of you on buses go up the best. Hedgerows burn nicest on crisp, dry autumn days, while hair is best freshly washed with a generous coating of hair spray to aid ignition.
We are only joking about the hair. No one ever sees the funny side of that. Hedgerows, however, are highly recommended.
Proper facts available on a proper web site. Better photos here.
Reader “Shine” said the funniest thing about them – “imagine dousing Sony HQ in petrol and then using one of these for the ‘coup de grace’.”

Why do people keep referring to the Mega-drive one as a Genesis? It says “Mega Drive” quite plainly on it. Are these people unable to read or something?
Did no-one made any jokes about them trying to make them like Sony vaio laptops but that they kept exploding?
Possibly more ironic and amusing puncholine could be that they refused to light at all. Choose your own punchline.
Actually, that could be a good idea for a new range of books like the old classic Ian Livingstone/Steve Jackson Fighting Fantasy books – choose your own punchline jokebooks. Worth taking to the dragons?

Pretty cool, shame they are around £70 though.

Interesting that they’re made in USA but not US model consoles. You’d think there’d be 1000 companies in the far east that could churn out stuff like this. Or maybe this is part of their plan to justify the loony price.

Zippo are American and must make all their stuff in America. Sega of Japan probably contacted them, wanting a famous, quality name rather than some cheap shit from Hong Kong.
It’s doubtful that there was a Zippo board meeting where someone raised the idea of bringing out a range of lighters based on a line of defunct Sega consoles.
