A GAME WE MIGHT HAVE SOME OF
Final Fight: Double Impact, which we may purchase in honour and memory of the astounding Mega CD version, the creation of which was Capcom’s most selfless and generous act. It won’t arrive until April of 2010, which gives us ample time to remember where all the leads are and to get an Ethernet cable long enough to go to where the phone is now.
Hopefully there’ll be a MEGA CD Mode, where it randomly crashes every 10 minutes because the CD bit doesn’t connect to the Mega Drive properly.

I fucking love Final Fight, I’ve been hoping for an HD update like they did with SSFIITHD (or whatever it’s called).
Let’s hope it’s not censored like the crappy SNES version where Nintendo removed the prostitutes from the game. I look forward to being able to beat up prostitutes in HD.

All well and good, but what format’s it actually being released on?
I’ve got my fingers crossed for Xbox live and a sub-1000 points price…

GBA version is the best. Not joking. I am a Final Fight expert and the GBA version is the best.

I wouldn’t be averse to that, but then I think I may already have had it on the c64 so anything’s an improvement in comparison really

The GBA version is very good, I used to play it loads, if only to level up to the point where it unlocks auto-fire punching…
I don’t think any home version of Final Fight has been completely perfect. The SNES version was missing a level and a character, the Mega CD version was a bit lacking in colour depth and the computer versions were just shit. The GBA version was nearly there but I think the arcade version did still have one advantage in having loads of enemies on-screen at once. I think there could be over 10 of them at times.

I have the GBA version in my little box of GBA carts. Tonight might be the night I lapse back into being a gamer for 20 minutes.

Best way to play is 0 extra lives on the second hardest difficulty (hardest disables the ‘rules’ for the AI and it can do things it shouldn’t be able to, like Andore repeatedly and inescapably grabbing you).
With 0 lives you must prove your worthiness to keep playing by being good and earning additional lives through scoring. I have managed to beat the game this way, but that didn’t happen for seven months of playing it everyday.
I feel like we’ve all really bonded today which is of course unacceptable. I shall leave until I feel sufficiently alienated and disconnected again.

I also have the gba version, but it’s japanese and comes in a special, slightly bigger box. It’s also orange so i guess you could call it the orange bo…oh … wait..

If you jump on to the garbage can just before you go into the train in the subway then no one can touch you. I once had a friend who looked like Haggar. He even had the pants.

Please, could we just forget FF ?
It was vastly inferior to any of Sega’s brawler. It was a sad joke compared to Golden Axe or any of the Streets of Rage. It was even inferior to Dynamite Ducks. To Alien Storm. To Double Dragon. To Crime Fighters. To River City Ransom. To Ninja Gaiden.
FF was just a poor, unoriginal, unbalanced, flat, boring coinmuncher with characters taken from an unreleased gay disco rythm game.
Yes, a gay disco rythm game, made by capcom to celebrate the first japanese gaypride in Yokosuka in 1990. Check wikipedia if you don’t believe me.

I can only assume you are joking as most of those games you mentioned are awful. Crime Fighters 2 (Vendetta) is quite good though.
FF is better than SoR2. Infinitely better than Double Dragon which even though I like a lot, is so broken is barely qualifies as a game. Goldenaxe is only popular because it has generic fantasy characters in it. A turd dressed as a dwarf with a healing potion placed next to it would be just as fondly remembered.
If FF wasn’t genuinely excellent I wouldn’t be bothered about it today. I don’t go in for ironic retro bollocks, I don’t own a single Atari, Deceptacon or Thundercats tshirt. Arcade version is a bit unbalanced and unfair, but that is why I mentioned the GBA version in the first place.
Even if that gay pride disco game was true, it would only add to the interest. Part of FF’s appeal is just how ridiculously camp it is. I’m secure enough to appreciate hard hitting, semi-naked musclemen dressed in dayglo pink. Firefox dictionary just suggested ‘day-boys’ for dayglo. What further proof do you need?
I’m just glad to be a having a discussion about games where FF means Final Fight and not Final Fantasy.

“I’m just glad to be a having a discussion about games where FF means Final Fight and not Final Fantasy.”
Erm… Wasn’t Final Fight Gay Disco a spin off to the Final Fantasy saga ? I could swear I read it was licensed to Capcom by Square, who are experts in gayness, but a bit crap at rythm games.
Anyway, FF is crap, and it can’t compare to Golden Axe : in FF you have absolutely no tactical influence of the battlefield, no girls in red bikini (venom IS a transexual). In FF you can’t vary your attack sequences as a much as in GA. And you can’t even mount chicken monsters.
SoR2 is a billion times better, as your character can do tons of different things, that Haggar and his thaï ladyboy lover GuyPhocTueng can’t.
Even RUSHING BEAT was better.
I’m glad we can have a semi serious discussion about actual games on UKR. I hope Zorg don’t ban us.
PS : I’ll try this turd thing with beard to see if it works. Must fing a healing potion, tough.

F*** Censorship.
December 7th, 2009 on 12:44 pm
Let’s not get crazy here, chaps. Final Fight is a great game but it’s not a patch on SoR2. And I would say Golden Axe matches it for quality.
December 8th, 2009 on 12:42 am
No.
Golden Axe is superior.
Final Fight matches the gay interacial sex scene of Dragon Age : Origins for quality.
