NEW SHENMUE ARTWORK, VIA SEGA ALL-STARS RACING
Time has not been kind to Ryo, but then he has spent the last eight years doing admin work for one of the shipping companies based in the docks, using a really old CRT monitor – hence what’s happened to his eyes.
Eight long, hard, real-time years.
Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing really is the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ of the games world, thanks to the way it gives so many ageing, long-forgotten stars one more shot at the BIG TIME. If this game does well, Ryo will be able to pay off his mortgage and retire.

It’s amazing he’s survived 8 years of QTEs and hanging out with sailors.
When’s the OK magazine interview?

He’ll be able to buy a ticket. On a boat. To Hong Kong. Take a plane next time Ryo you fucking cheapskate. It’s your god damn father.

Oh no !! Chaï ate the ticket again !
February 3rd, 2010 on 1:41 pm
He looks a bit weird.
February 3rd, 2010 on 1:46 pm
Doesn’t look a damn thing like he does in the Shenmue games.

Any of you guys aware how little any of this means to those of us who never played Shenmue?
Yes yes, I know I should have but I haven’t, okay?
And besides, the cheapest on ebay’s £10.99, do you think I’m made of money or something? I can’t afford that kind of outlay, especially after shelling out for Animal Crossing. Very wary about buying anything after that one…

He’ll end up marrying that skank Katie Price at this rate…

The pain of not getting Shenmue III just isn’t going to go away with time is it?
February 3rd, 2010 on 2:54 pm
It’s not like Ryo was a real person that is now dead, so they had to make a model of his head out of clay and scan it in. I’m sure the models from the Dreamcast game could have been ripped and updated. Amateur modders are able to rip GameCube game models.
So why does this Ryo look like it was made by someone whose only reference material was old copies of ODM?

He better not retire before doing Shenmue III. Perhaps he’ll be the most popular character in All-Stars Racing and Sega will finally decided to green light a third game? My optimism where Sega is concerned will NEVER DIE. You never know…
If Ryo was real he’d be 42. I mean yeah, His face looks a bit weird in the new art, but he’s looking pretty good for 42. Maybe he got a home Botox kit in a capsule machine somewhere?

“Any of you guys aware how little any of this means to those of us who never played Shenmue?”
?! Wasn’t UKR a kind of group therapy for people who played Shenmue in their youth ?
The more I look at this wonky-faced Ryo, the more I understand the message : Sega tells us to eat shit and die. They will never make Shenmue 3, and they’re defacing Ryo on purpose, to get it clear for us.
February 3rd, 2010 on 6:19 pm
Why is my face so deformed?
February 3rd, 2010 on 8:05 pm
Sega’s to-do list:
1. Get rid of Ryo’s new afro and his obscenely big forehead.
2. Make Shenmue 3.
That is all…..
February 4th, 2010 on 12:47 pm
Agree on both points, but i’d settle for Shenmue 1 on XBLA. Haven’t had a fix of getting the toy capsules in nearly a decade.

Anyone know if there’s a way of getting the code to unlock Ryo and his forklift without having to pre-order the game at silly prices? Best price (with code) I can see so far is at Gameplay, for £30.99
Can’t believe that in this day and age, people still can’t crack the codes to unlock bonus content. Surely either someone out there can make a keygen for this kind of thing or a load of codes can fall off the back of a delivery lorry or summat? Come on people, if we could crack the enimga code with the technology we had 60 years ago, surely an unlock code for a bonus character’s a piece of piss for today’s hardware?
