THEY’RE STILL MAKING VIRTUA FIGHTERS
When they stop we’ll be sad, but while they carry on we are indifferent. They can’t win. It’s like Top of the Pops – we gave up watching it in 1996, but were still quite upset when it was axed.
It’s Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown, coming soon to an internet petition site near you.
Sent in by an “Alex” who must be a bit young and therefore still able to “get into” things like this. He probably even remembers what the buttons are and what those two new characters are called.

VAHTCHA FAITAH!!!
I lost interest by VF4 when I realised that in order to learn enough to just be crap at the game, I would have to give up all other areas of my life. I don’t have time for games to not be fun for the first 800 hours and to have a learning curve similar to that of becoming a concert pianist.

They got as far as FIVE???? I still can’t beat Pai in ranking mode on VF2!!!
Does this also mean that my pre-order for VF3 Saturn is invalid?

I’t a problem, that, ain’t it? What it really means is that I don’t have time for games anymore, period, even though I still think of myself as a gamer to some degree.
The games that I have made time for in recent years tend to be things that are nice, but don’t actually require ‘playing’ as I used to understand it. To use a not-very recent example, ICO and SotC are very nice… er… experiences, but there’s no challanege in them, completing them is merely a matter of time spent and has nothing to do with skill, dexterity etc. I’m looking forward to The Last Guardian very much but it’s going to be more of the same type of non-challenge, part of me is saddened by this, and self-disgusted.
On the bright side I can’t cope with reaction-centric games anymore anyway so hey-ho. Played MWII online recently for the first time, got my arse so thoroughly kicked I lost my sense of humour about it after 25 mins and (rightly) decided that everyone who plays it is a cunt.
But where does this leave me vis a vis gaming in general?
Answer – TOO OLD.
