ANOTHER UPDATE ABOUT THE PS3 DOOMSDAY SCENARIO
It’s only 2.45pm but today’s already turning out to be one of the best days in history. Even if we lose a limb this afternoon and get food poisoning from the hospital dinner and some idiot trainee doctor accidentally sews on a food mixer instead of the severed arm, it’ll still be an average day, overall, thanks to all of this and this:
Imagine the panic. Imagine the internal meetings. Imagine the group email exchanges. It’s almost enough to warrant cracking out the blank ‘Hitler video’ template (oh).
Happy Doomsday, everyone.

If only the bug affected the owners as well as the PS3s…

Even though I’ve just been given 90 days notice of redundancy, this has made me chuckle.

You got 90 days?
At out work we were told of “Impending Redundancies” Monday and 2 people were gone by the end of the week!

Pah, I can beat that.
Hands up anyone who’s been told at the end of the working day not to bother coming in tomorrow. Or any time after that for that matter.
Come on, gotta be someone else out there, don’t leave me sat here with my hand in the air all by meself…

Nearly. I read it on the internet on Friday night, and had to ASK my boss if I was supposed to be doing any work or not on the following Monday.

We have to enter into a ’90-day consultative period’, but we are all aware that means frigg all will be done when they can save money by using overseas workers. after last year’s 30-day period, 50-odd workers went, so they have previous.

When I was made redundant along with the rest of the UK web team at a place I worked at during the dotcom boom, we were asked to leave immediately for fear that servers would be tampered with. They changed the locks too. Not for my benefit I might add.

Did you work for gameplay slight? I remember a very similar day when the company was split into two and walked off to another location. A hotel I think. Half were getting sacked with immediate effect and half weren’t. What fun it was trying to work out which half you were in whilst walking to your fate……

I was in one of those half and half scenarios. Half the people were marshalled into one room to collect their papers, the other half had to wait in another room whilst first lot cleared their desks.
Me? I missed the entire affair whilst sat on the crapper.
