“BE IN THE GAME” WITH… TRAIN2GAME
Train2Game has got enough money out of people to be able to pay for a TV advert. It’s called “Be in the Game” and you can probably imagine EXACTLY how it’s going to look and unfold from that evocative description.
This ad apparently “airs” during “The Gadget Show” on a channel called “Fiver” tomorrow night. Fiver is also how much it must cost to advertise during The Gadget Show.
You can’t embed the video, obviously, because then everyone would be able to view it in environments in which comment cannot be censored by the T2G INTERNET ENFORCEMENT POLICE. So click here to see it, then come back here with your post-screening reviews.

It’s got an aggressively smug-looking twat in it.

Charlatans…
Well if a big name studio ever needed anyone who can do a colourful bat-and-ball game then they know to look for T2G graduates
April 12th, 2010 on 5:54 pm
I made one of them, and I didn’t even have to do their crappy course…
April 12th, 2010 on 6:11 pm
What a joke.
I’d like to know what 3D maths they cover on their course. Without a decent grounding in 3D maths you’re useless to the industry.

Hey trolls, try going to TIGA website u sad pathetic losers who have less intelligence than my dog.
TIGA – Government backed.
Train2Game – TIGA Endorsed.
April 12th, 2010 on 11:39 pm
What a surprise to see someone from Train2Game waving about a tatty printout of their TIGA membership confirmation as if it’s some sort of magical ‘golden ticket’ that raises them above all forms of criticism.
TIGA – a trade body anyone can join for a fee, not a grant of total diplomatic immunity from the Queen.

“TIGA – Government backed.”
So? The Government are cunts. That’s not really a recommendation. That would be like a childcare centre having the Gary Glitter Seal of Approval.
“Hey trolls, try going to TIGA website u sad pathetic losers who have less intelligence than my dog.”
And you wonder why we think you’re nothing more than a spambot.
a) At least try to string a coherent sentence together.
b) Don’t use text-speak, for christ’s sake.
c) It’s Zorg’s site. He can say what he likes. I believe your mere presence here makes YOU the troll, sir.
d) Using (admittedly crappy) insults isn’t going to win us over.

I’d be happy to “Be in the Game” if it means I can punch that cunt in his stupid fucking beard.

ImBarryScott: BullShit! I’ve spent 25 years in the games industry with very little 3D maths knowledge. Not every job in this industry is a 3D maths programmer… you do know that right?
There’s UI programmers and AI programmers for example, neither of which require a “decent grounding in 3D maths”. A well written API layer, can go a long way to ensuring you just need common sense, and a basic understanding of 3D.

You don’t really need to know more than:
10 PRINT “Your dad’s got a slack arse!”
20 GOTO 10
to program any game. You might need the odd IF statement, but it’s best to keep those to a minimum.

LeeC22
I hope you don’t define being in the ‘gaming industry’ as sitting at a pc spilling KFC over your keyboard as you crap on about some game on a shit blog no one cares about…..
April 13th, 2010 on 8:45 am
I second LeeC’s comment about 3D maths! Also I’d point out that 3D maths isn’t going to be a great help if you want to be an artist or a designer or producer etc etc. Also I_Hate_You I think you are confusing LeeC with Terrier Games possibly?
I also call bullshit on Captain Whoops and his inability to do any research (though, to be fair, it ain’t just him!)!
April 13th, 2010 on 9:06 am
What research should I be doing M Tucker? Other than reading about T2G, reading blog posts, reading forum posts, articles, reviews etc?

I came home last night to find approximately six Train2Game leaflets through my door. Can’t say I appreciated it.
Also, I would like to meet Jclass’ dog.
April 13th, 2010 on 10:14 am
I did nine years in the industry and it was just like in that video, all the time.
April 13th, 2010 on 10:27 am
Tch. I tried to stick with that link but I couldn’t stomach it, sorry. That guy made me think he was trying to do the worst David Frost impression in the world so had to be stopped. Am impressed with everyone else’s fortitude for being able to stick with it, though.
Guess it was pretty much a given that some shill paid by train2game would show up and start talking shit, but wasn’t expecting them to call other people trolls, how’s that for hypocrisy?
My entire games programming experience is a 4-location text adventure I made for the C64, where you died as soon as you went either North, South, East or West (and the screen went black too – Poke 53280,0 and Poke 53281,0, the ‘Goth’ pokes (and I think POKE 646, 0 turned the text black as well, but memory’s not so hot on that one). Unfortunately it was never published as I didn’t have a spare c15.
Oh, and I had SEUCK for the C64 too (hence my lack of spare c15 tapes). Should I be looking into training for a job in the games industry? I’d suspect if I had any money spare whatsoever or a willingness to put myself into hock then Train2Game would obviously say yes, regardless of my C in GCSE maths and artistic abilities roughly equivalent to a chimp. But following Jclass’s comment (I’ve read better written spam emails) I think I’d rather work as an unpaid teaboy for Terrier Games, hoping I’d be allowed to draw a sprite at some stage than being ‘taught’ by someone like Jclass…
Unfortunately, after all this, the main thing that’s stuck in my mind is just this. So, thanks for that Zorg, that’ll be in my head all day now.
April 13th, 2010 on 11:39 am
@LeeC: I know what you’re saying but personally I think a lack of 3D maths knowledge is a severe downside (if you’re a programmer, that is).
It’s all very well using APIs and libraries written by other people but you can’t be on the cutting edge if you’re relying on other people’s tech. You should be the ones WRITING the libraries, as a programmer. Otherwise you’re dispensable. They can get any average Joe out of Uni to use libs written by other people.
I’m a network coder, not an engine coder, but I wouldn’t be able to do my job properly without knowing a good amount of 3D maths.

I know that’s meant to be a dig at me, but it doesn’t bother me because I know that most of the games I make are shit. Not all of them, but quite a few of them.
But hey – the game you have splashed all over your expensive-looking website like jizz around a crackwhore’s gums is crappier than anything I have ever made. Even my first text adventure back in the 90’s.
But you know what? Fuck you, Train2Game. Fuck you and fuck all your shill accounts. I see you use Game Maker on your course – hey, I use Game Maker too!
Here’s an idea – I’m going to release the source files for ALL of my games over this week, and I am going to start a “how to” section on how to make games in Game Maker. And you know what? I won’t charge for it, you cunts.
And hey – I might even start spamming your forums, see if I can drum up some interest, seeing as you lot keep spamming my postbox with your flyers (keep sending them, and I’ll keep posting them – I know every time I do that it costs you money).
It’s on like Donkey Kong now, bitch!
April 13th, 2010 on 1:22 pm
We should tell Watchdog about T2G. Maybe they could send Alice Beer around to my house to do some “research”?
April 13th, 2010 on 1:59 pm
Oh god, don’t even joke about that, Bulk Slash. It’ll be the Alan Titchmarsh show all over again…
April 13th, 2010 on 2:43 pm
Wow. I could be a UI programmer you say? Sounds absolutely thrilling. Sign me up. Though I can’t even do 2D maths, let alone the 3D variety. I don’t even remember how to do the Pythagoras’ theorem. But I don’t need any of that maths shit anyway, right Train2Game?
April 15th, 2010 on 9:56 am
Stuntcunt – keep the IFs to a minimum, you don’t know how right you are *knowing wink to the crowd*
*punched in face for being smug*
