DOCTOR WHO – THE ADVENTURE GAMES
The new Doctor Who TV show is a mess. About one episode in four can hold its own against a mid-range episode of Quantum Leap, and that’s about as good as it gets.
It is no Babylon 5.
You’re not even allowed to say Doctor Who is rubbish, because then you’ll be told by a 45-year-old man that you’re somehow not getting the point. It’s infuriating. We file people who like Doctor Who in the same place we put people who like the Wii – the IDIOT CABINET.
Run around for a bit while some music and dialogue YOU MIGHT RECOGNISE OFF THE TELLY plays in the background. Charming. Good job it’s free. Video via VG247.

The graphics remind me a little bit of ReBoot. And in 2010, that’s not really a good thing.

[cue hammering from cabinet] Let me out! Just because I quite like Dr Who, it’s no reason to lock me in here with all these muppets swinging their arms around all the time!
Did the good Doctor take the development team back in time to the mid-90’s? Certainly looks like it, going by the graphics. I’ve lost track of the length of time I’ve been waiting for a decent Dr Who game to be released and, now it’s finally garnered a smidgen of respectability (and budget) and had a semi-decent chance of some time and effort put into making a good game I thought “maybe, maybe“. But no, let’s rush something shoddy out, shall we? It’s only for kids (and middle-aged saddos), after all.
Tch.

I like Doctor Who now that Moffat taken over. I couldn’t stand it prior to that, mostly I think because an episode couldn’t go by without the Doctor mooning over the loss of Billie Piper and her enormous fucking horse teeth.
Now Karen Gillan, there’s a companion I’d like to probe with my Sonic Screwdriver…

The new Doctor Who is boring, poorly written, and as far as I can tell, aimed at children. Why (grown up) people go so mad about it is beyond me. Maybe these people do not have access to better programming.

Currently Google-imaging Karen Gillan with sonic-knobdriver in hand…

I’d like to say that I only watch it so that I can gawp Karen Gillan for an hour but I kind of really like the new Dr Who…
I like the way the game looks like a mid 90’s FMV cutscene because I remember thinking back in the day that games will one day look exactly as good as a cutscene and that would be AMAZING. Now I can finally say that my prophecy has come true (sort of).

Main problem with the current assistant is that her name’s just that little bit to close to “Kieron Gillen” for comfort.
