THE DREAMCAST “BOOMBOX” CASE MOD
We’ve checked with someone still in their 20s, and have been told that a “boombox” is a bit like a radio only mainly used for the playing of urban music in which the protagonists aggressively shout about buying a car that’s more expensive than their rival’s car over a repetitive loop of sound.
We hope that clears it all up for you.
It works, has a screen and controller ports, and would therefore let you play Dreamcast games anywhere there’s a plug socket. A bit like a… Dreamcast. Loads more photos of the Dreamcast-in-a-radio modification can be found here and there’s a literally appalling video of it in action here, if you’re as bored as we are of today already.

Nice to see a post on a bank holiday, Zorg. I was starting to believe you’ve got no PC at home.

Is this the future that we have to look forward to? People putting Dreamcasts into other, increasingly improbable things? Dreamcast in a fridge. Dreamcast in a foot spa. Dreamcast in a tea kettle. Contemplating the possibilities make me want to kill myself.

I’ve put a Dreamcast in the tv unit under my telly, does that count?

Older readers would be more familiar with the term ‘ghetto blaster’.

I had a ghettoblaster with a little CRT telly in once. It ate batteries like they were going out of fashion, and the horizontal hold was buggered.
It was a Saisho, which I believe is Japanese for “Dixons”

marimo, I’m all for seeing the Dreamcast installed into fridges and kettles, because that means Sony have failed to get the Cell into all those devices like they planned.
Plus a quick game of Crazy Taxi is perfect for when you’re waiting for the kettle to boil.
