“DEAR GAMESMASTER, CAN YOU BE THE TALIBAN?”
“Hello, Jimmy. Why yes, you can be the Taliban. Simply hold down X+Y+A when selecting your character. Have fun!”
Average age of game buyer now 39, according to this madness :(

Yay! I’m younger than average!
But in America it’s 35? Or at least I think that’s what they said, seemed to say one age then another. What is an “average game age” ?
I’m confused. Must be old age.
And what the hell is a ‘gold star mom’?
/quick wiki check.
Ah right. Just as well I didn’t make that gag about gold star milfs, then.
Even if it comes out on psp, surely this game being insensitive isn’t the fault of the game but the fault of those at the funeral playing it?
As for a game based on a current war being disrespectful, is it any more disrepectful than one based on WW1, WW2, Vietnam, Falklands, the 100 years war, etc, etc? How long’s not long enough?
They find it unrealistic that it can be boiled down to something as simple as cops/robbers or pirates/aliens (I wanna play that one)? I thought the standard Fox news stance was always if you’re not with us you’re against us? Surely they’re not now trying to say that war is a grey area and there’s no simple black or white choices?
One minute she’s saying it’s unrealistic that people die and start again in medal of honour, then she’s saying wrestling’s better because no-one dies. So, does she want people to die and stay dead in MOH or to respawn with no damage (kinda like wrestling (but not, I know, just go with it, ok))?
Pah, it’s Fox news, it’s not meant to make any sense is it? Is there no proper news today? Have Sega not done anything else stupid lately?

I think games based on current wars is in bad taste actually. It can be argued that making mindless entertainment out of any war is suspect, but to not even wait for one to finish before deciding to cash in is just a teeny-weeny bit amoral.
Games don’t bring anything worthwhile to the discussion about war. They are just sport.

“I think games based on current wars is in bad taste actually.”
So in which year did it become valid to start making games based upon Vietnam or the first Gulf War? The moment they concluded? Is cashing in on older Wars any less exploitative?
Oh dear, this is all getting a bit too serious…
Wouldn’t.

This is just Harrier Attack all over again, surely?
Although admittedly, Durell (specifically Martin White) never said you were flying over the Falklands (“nowhere in particular“, in fact” and you couldn’t play as the ‘Argies’. You could bomb your own aircraft carrier, however, so maybe that counts?
(Where there any games released in Argentina where you were the captain of the Belgrano?)
So, all they need to do is set the new MOH “nowhere in particular” and not mention any real world countries or organisations and it’ll all be fine.
Even better would be if they followed the advice that’s been here since 2005…

All war games are exploitative, yes. Real suffering turned into nothing more than time passing entertainment. I think they should only really be considered once the events have become somewhat mythologised and not while someone who is there right now, who could easily die before the day is out. Whether people are ‘okay’ with it doesn’t alter anything.
But that’s our entertainment culture. Push everything. Push it way beyond breaking point and keep pushing it. Push it beyond where anyone really wants it to go and keep pushing it.
Can’t wait for a war MMO shooter based on a current conflict with actual soldier likenesses (you get scanned in as you enlist). If the guy you’re playing as gets killed you can cancel your subscription (but no refund for the days unused) or pick another soldier. WWIII, Sponsored by EA. All done in the best possible taste.

“Gamers” can “play” as the “Taliban” in EAs “controversial” “game.”

Bloody hell, they’re weird looking buggers.
Wiki says they like “warm, fairly dry and open habitats” though, so unless global warming hurries up a bit, incarcerating them in a South Wales garden may be seen as animal cruelty, but you never know…

They’ve got a lot of personality. Though in the wild they usually travel in packs of around 80-100 birds so you might need to bang some extra extensions on the old Billy Hatcher coop. I’m not sure how to do one of those fancy links in the text but watch this if you’re interested –
