This is turning out nice.
As in, it might be worth spending 10 minutes with to confirm that it’s exactly the same game underneath, then not bothering any more because it’s exactly the same game underneath.
That’s some serious peril. You could possibly spin-dash forwards, but the only real way to safeguard the rings would be a humiliating jump backwards.

You can’t do a spindash while in your “about to fall off the edge animation” – everyone knows that.
In fact I’d hazard a guess that if Sonic just moved forward, the Buzzbomber’s projectile would just whiff past his head, as they move quite slowly.

Just jump up with a slight curve left and kill the Buzzbomber. He’s unleashed his payload, and will be heading West, you should be able to bounce off his head as he moves and then land back in your original spot.

I can’t quite work out the funny/sad balance for the fact being by anyone but Sonic Team is a good thing.
