PLAY.COM PUBLICLY HIGHLIGHTS MASSIVE PS3 DISINTEREST
So yesterday, popular European discount etailer Play.com sent out a press release to the world about its PS3 pre-ordering campaign. It boasted it would be able to fulfill all of its PS3 pre-orders and that it’d be taking pre-orders until its stock is taken.
Today, it still has PS3s for sale. It will be able to fulfill its pre-orders because it clearly hasn’t taken more than three, despite telling everyone it had “overwhelming numbers” of orders. That was just a lie then, in keeping with the general lie-about-everything PS3 grand scheme.
Whoops. Maybe it’s the ridiculous bundle, maybe it’s that one of the bundled games is Genji, or maybe it’s no one caring about Sony’s over-priced and unwanted “HD” shitbox. BRING ON MARCH 23. WE ARE NOT AFRAID ANY MORE.

So when I bought a Wii it involved rapidly refreshing amazon.co.uk at 9am and using my uni’s huge bandwith to press f5 fast enough to bring a lady elephant to orgasm before they all sold out.
Play.com’s been selling their launch allocation of PS3s and are stopping when they run out. I first checked at 12:30pm and as of now (9:30pm) they’re still in stock.
Ho ho.

WHat I could spend £525 on instead of a Gaystation 3…

A fairly high spec PC from a computer show, allowing me to install Linux, and look at all the p0rn I like and have change left over to buy about £100 worth of p0rn.
A reasonable holiday in the tropics – all inclusive – unlike an HDMI lead Sony. C’mon, composite is for gays!
Basically, I could buy a whole lot of more useful shit, rather than a brick-like paperweight that I’ll probably end up blagging for work purposes anyway.

Well, it’s 07.45, and still taking orders. However… I clicked buy, and it returned me to the same screen. At first I thought that was an indication that I couldn’t order one after all. Clicked it a few more times just to be sure… same again. Then I noticed that there is a shopping basket on the left of the page (can’t remember last time I bought from Play.com, so forgot that), and I had managed to add 9 of them to my shopping basket inadvertantly. Hit the proceed to checkout button and there it was, ready to take the payment of 4725 odd quid I’d run up.
I wonder just how many I could order before it complained…

If hardly anyone is going to buy one, the Ebay merchants aren’t going to get away with selling them for over the odds.
Hearing this news, I will now wait till the summer or later. Sony might even let us have the machine for amount it should be, when they realise only rich obessives are buying it.
