SPACE CHANNEL 5 PART TWO

Good lord, in the year 2010 we are looking at screenshots of Ulala and it isn’t a cameo in some shite novelty motion controlled fitness game. It is a remake, but that’s OK. It’s not 4v4 online war and for that we are grateful.

This might throw us back into the HELL of ironic plush toy purchasing. Amazing. Here’s the press release:

SEGA Announces the Return of Space Channel 5: Part 2 and SEGA Bass Fishing

PLAYSTATION ENABLES PAEDOPHILE

It is our sad duty to inform you of this. Be vigilant – the next time someone suggests a bit of “PlayStation link up” they may be referring to linking their genitals to the genitals of your child. Using an improvised adhesive made of saliva and flakes of skin.

If you know of any PlayStation owners, best get out and burn their houses down to force them out of your local community. Just in case. Think of the kids.

REMARKABLY INTRICATE SLOT WORK

Celebrate the minor 2D Sonic revival by looking at this. A Mega Drive painted up in Sonic colours, by a man who’s got the right kind of paint brush and more paint in his collection than a ten-year-old pot of magnolia Dulux emulsion.

“I have a few spares in my collection and it got me thinking about painting up one of my Mega Drives. When I was staring at the Mega Drive shape [*SAD SMILEY FACE*] I noticed the ring around the cartridge slot and thought that I could use that to make the iconic Sonic 1 intro screen. I had loads of fun painting it up and thought you guys might like to see it? I put photos up on my Flickr page here” – Porl.

DESPITE THE PRESENCE OF A MINECART LEVEL…

…we shall be moving HEAVEN AND EARTH (trying to find a VGA cable) and maybe actually playing Sonic The Hedgehog 4 today.

But only maybe. It’s been a long time since we last held a video game controller, and it may trigger unsettling flashbacks.

WHAT HAPPENED TO KIDS USING THEIR IMAGINATIONS?

You used to have to IMAGINE you were in a boat, or holding a gun, or were the owner of a nice tennis racquet.

Now you buy the plastic. From here, and lots of other places.

“THIS IS A FAN MADE GAME AND IS IN NO WAY RELATED TO SEGA”

We can tell. We’d actually like to play it.

“There’s a comment summing it up nicely – ‘Sonic Team has to have the only fan base that thinks they’re so incompetent, as to make their games for them'” – Omar.

TRAIN2GAME DID “BOOTH BABES” AT EUROGAMER EXPO

We might have to declare some sort of ceasefire on enemy #2, as it looks like we have something in common with our favourite bunch of aggressive shareware salesmen after all.

UKR 04

“Today was an exciting day. Today was the start of the three-day Eurogamer Expo 2010 and Captain Whoops was there to bring you all the action”

UKR 05

“To be honest there wasn’t much action other than lots of Emo kids walking around”

UKR 01

“For your visual pleasure we have not one but three photos of a crashed PS3 at the LittleBigPlanet 2 booth”

UKR 06

“The SEGA recruitment booth in all its dull glory was hidden in a corner behind the dreaded Train2Game booth, of which we have 3 photos”

UKR 07

“To finish us off we have the Train2Game Booth ‘Babes’ walking around with their see-through pants on…”

UKR 08

“…well they were see-through after I switched the flash to full power” – Captain Whoops.

BY PUBLIC DEMAND: YUJI NAKA ON “DREAMCAST 2”

A man who used to be affiliated with SEGA mentioned Dreamcast 2 by name. This confirms its existence, although Mr Naka is obviously rather cagey about the whole subject. And is using it to help SHIFT UNITS of his new thing for the Nintendos.

But still.

From here. Thanks to everyone who sent this is. It gained as much “traction” as the Obama Sonic bag.

GAME OF THE YEAR CONTENDER

As in, one of the seven games we’ve actually played this year. Another three and we’ll be good to write an end-of-year top ten list feature!

It’s about rescuing Kylie Minogue. Play it here. We can’t help wondering (a) how much it cost to make and (b) how many extra copies of the album it will actually sell.
