KONTORLAND KT-103 – THE BEST VIDEO GAME SYSTEM
Not sure who that’s according to. Also not sure if Sonic has been turned black on purpose in an attempt at disguising him, or if it’s the result of poor lighting conditions, cheap print reproduction on the box and the submitter using an iPhone – creating a bad photograph ‘perfect storm’.
“WARNING! this email contains horrible counterfeit graphic usage of Sonic (and Tails) and the Dreamcast spiral!”
“Greetings from Istanbul, Turkey. I present you KONTORLAND. Here you
can see it is being marketed as THE BEST VIDEO GAME SYSTEM, with appearances from Sonic and Tails.”
“But here’s the ugly truth. This machine is what we label here as an ‘underpass console’. They use grotesque yellow cartridges and are mostly sold at public underpasses, the last hope of videogaming for the ghetto kids because daddy’s bringing a PlayStation home.”
“Oh no, wait. its a Kontorland! And a 999999999999 in 1 game cartridge! (still beats PlayStation though)”
“Also the spiral like symbolism on the logo cannot go unnoticed. it surely challenges the limits of our imagination. Peace” – Ant.

In spite of all the Sega branding is this actually another NES clone?
It must be quite depressing to buy a console promising to be the “best video game system” and then find it can’t play Sonic, instead it just runs a bunch of games about a fat Italian. Sorry, I meant Italian-American.

It looks like a SNES with a PlayStation controller to me (presumably a wireless one, if the box is to be believed, but probably a hacked 3rd party one with a 6-inch lead that gives out electric shocks when you start it up).
I wonder whether I could buy Kieron Gillen one…?

I’ve seen a great knock-off ps1-style console a few times in my travels to various car boot sales, junk shops and charity shops. Comes with a bunch of games and 3 disks.
They’re not cds, dvds, gd-roms or anything so fangled. They’re just plain solid plastic disks. In 3 different sizes.
When you put the largest disk in and close the lid, it pushes down 3 little lugs and gives you a choice of (what look like sub-NES) games to play. Put in a smaller disk and it pushes in less of those lugs and gives you a different choice of games to play.
Basically, they’re all in-built games but it’s trying to make you think they’re on the disks.
Other than that, it’s fairly uninteresting, with no Sega branding, swirls or even potential faces, so I never took any pictures, let alone bothered to buy one.
Should I do so the next time I see one?

Yes, especially if you use a crayon to draw a swirl on the casing.

Right, one Dreamcast 2 prototype coming up next time I see one then. (which will now, no doubt, be ‘Never’)

For some reason the mental image of Turkish children buying bootleg cartridges from shops on public underpasses brings a smile to my face. I don’t know why….maybe its because this is such a horrid rip off or maybe I just like to laugh at developing nations.
This article does have a good point to it though. Even bootleg, rip off, copyright criminals who created this frankenstein monster of consoles in Turkey are better then Sony as a whole.
Congrats, Ant! Congrats! (Blows kazoo)

Are we only getting one update per day across “the network” now?
What did we do wrong, Daddy? :(

Fucking blog spam, it made me think there were 7 or so exciting new comments about wanking to read.

Hello…
Nice share. I think your blog should come up much higher in the search results than where it is showing up right now….
