THE PROS AND CONS OF AIMING A MAG AT GIRLS

PROS

– You can reuse all the tired ideas that have been in games magazines for decades.

– Reader interaction.

– Lower expectations.

– No one will suggest doing a track-by-track guide for Gran Turismo 5.

CONS

– Having to explain everything.

– Someone will still have to write a guide for Final Fantasy XIII over a weekend using only the Japanese code.

SOME PEOPLE ARE STILL MAKING DREAMCAST GAMES

Just like some elderly Japanese soldiers in the jungle still think they’re fighting World War II, and also eerily similar to how Sony won’t just bin PS3 and start again.

This is called Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles. It is, in the global scheme of things, “new” on Dreamcast.

This might be a bit “2008” but we have been made to feel guilty about neglecting the modern Dreamcast “scene” by Redspotgames. They have a shop you can buy this and ONE OTHER Dreamcast game from, providing your Dreamcast is still working and you’ve got a TV that can still take the old, weak, low-resolution signal she produces.

WHO IS MAKING THE GAMES?
“We are producing our games at a CD facility in Germany” a nice man told us in an email

“SCHWEINE PARTY”

Laugh? Cry? Become a vegetarian and move to a bit of the planet that is yet to be TARNISHED by the evil of video games? Start hurting people just for the fun of it as the world is clearly ruined already anyway?

Days since last played a video game – 92.

PSP LIE WATCH: WARNING! FAKE SCREENSHOTS OF “GRAN TURISMO” ARE BEING CIRCULATED

A batch of screenshots purporting to be of “Gran Turismo” on PSP are in circulation. Please don’t be fooled. A man could be tricked into buying a PSP on the strength of fake claims about Gran Turismo. Imagine that.

psp-gran-turismo-fake

The fake screenshots look like this. A person or persons pretending to be “Sony” is sending the above images out to web sites and blogs. Even the mighty Kotaku has been taken in by the scam.

Sub-Dreamcast level graphics

The actual game looks more like this, and probably even a bit worse on your fucked up old screen with all the scratches on it from where it’s been slopping about in your little leather school satchel for the last four years. Be vigilant.

INDUSTRY NEWS: MIKE RAWLINSON FROM ELSPA HAS GOT SOME NEW GLASSES

Check these frames out. Must be at least £350 of toughened plastic right there. Looks like he even went for the toughened, anti-glare, scratch-resistant lens coating as well.

And going by the lining and button detailing on it that shirt was a good £70, minimum. Belt looks like it came with the trousers. Can’t see enough of the trousers to form a worthwhile conclusion. Shoes: UNKNOWN. If anyone from ELSPA can get us a mobile phone shot of Mike’s feet we’d be eternally grateful.
