Good lord, we’re… EXCITED about something made by people on the internet! The below image is a collection of sprites from Sonic 2 XL – a hacked version of Sonic 2 where Sonic gets fat from collecting rings. And it messes with the physics accordingly.
“I know you’ll like this shit right here. Two members at Sonic Retro have just released a hack called Sonic 2 XL where the rings are replaced with onion rings. If you eat too much, Sonic gets fat and can’t jump as high or run as fast. It’s absolutely incredible and completely changes the gameplay of the original game (plus, it’s hard as hell). I did a write up on it with all the info” – Brad
This video does a better job of selling it. Excitement level slowly increasing back to where it was some 24 hours earlier.
There’s a competition. A reader entered it with this. It’s good work. Skip to 2:10 to see Amy Rose with a taped-up horror head if you can’t be bothered with it all, and maybe turn the sound down if you’re somewhere serious.
“So SEGA is doing a contest to win a trip to Japan where you have to ‘show your passion’ for Sonic The Hedgehog. My friends and I have made a video and thought this may be of – some – interest to you… Maybe” – Fozzcat.
We haven’t copied & pasted the rest of the headline, which says this was actually recorded at a fan festival in 2008. Let’s pretend we filmed this ourselves last Thursday at a private event.
Here’s a video we filmed ourselves at a private event last Thursday. What happened after is too rude to show.
“As Sonic 134567898 observes, ‘T.J. Davis is such a good singer that her singing this will make you cry’. I feel a bit sick. Thanks. Bye” – James.
If this photograph had a Richard Jacques soundtrack it would be perfect.
“Kotaku just wrote a shite news story about a Furry convention in America. Of great importance is the Sonic tucked away at the top-right of the image.”
“Of more importance is the clearly unhinged man in the middle, deciding when would be the right moment to press the button and end it all. Probably not the most apt date to make such a reference but hey ho” – Chris.
The deal seems to be that the bloke who runs this shop is drip-feeding us interesting articles from a very old games magazine, in return for a link to his shop. He seems to think a link on UKR will make him a wealthy man. He will soon find out otherwise.
And we don’t remember a magazine called Raze. We were only into ACE in 1990.
“Here’s a little one you might like. And at only £24.99 they were a real bargain! This is from Raze magazine in 1990, if you remember that mag” – You Likee.
These Ulala cosplayers need to update their references. It’s like us going to a fancy dress party as Avon out of Blake’s 7, or Michael Garibaldi. We’re not going to explain what Michael Garibaldi is from, as you ought to KNOW THAT.
From Kotaku, via a “Gaz”. We’re killing time with this.
